LOCAL HERO ROOFING – HERO OF THE MONTH

We would like to celebrate our August local heroes! Meet Jimmie and Georgia Green. Jimmie is a high school teacher in the Mansfield school district. Georgia is a middle school teacher in the Fort Worth school district. The Greens currently reside in Arlington, TX. Jimmie teaches electronics and cyber security. He also runs the robotics club at the Ben Barber Academy in Mansfield. Georgia teaches 8th grade history in the Fort Worth middle schools.

Jimmie is from Morton, TX. He has always loved sports and particularly the coaches that he learned from. He wanted to pay forward the inspiration that he felt from those coaches. And so he decided being an educator was the way in which he could do that. Georgia is from New York City, NY, specifically, the Queens Borough. She was lost as a junior high school student and it led her to want to help future junior high schoolers to stay focused and help them understand the importance of how education will impact their futures.

Georgia has been an educator for 30 years. The part of her job that she finds most enjoyable is teaching the Constitution and helping her students understand the importance of government, civic duty and the Bill of Rights. She always “gets a kick out of it”, when a principal will tell her that a student said she was violating their freedom of speech.

Jimmie has been teaching and coaching for 27 years. He enjoyed coaching kids in the field of sports, and now he continues that in the academic classroom. Since he has been working at the high school level, he sees firsthand students take the next step of their development as they attend college. It is satisfying for him to know that he played a part in that journey to find their future.

Jimmie and Georgia met while they both were working in New York. They have two sons Jimmie II, 35, an IT Specialist and Robert, 32, an officer in the US Air Force. They also have three grandchildren Ali, 4, Jimmie Don III, 3 and Henry, 1.

To say thank you for the hard work Jimmie and Georgia have dedicated to shaping and developing our youth, we are gifting them a $250 gift card. We appreciate you guys and all the educators in our beloved state and country.
